5 reasons why Italy is perfect for school ski trips

1. A great choice of high altitude resorts
There are many fantastic resorts to choose from in Italy. Passo Tonale and Bormio-Santa Caterina are particularly great for an Easter ski trip as these high-altitude resorts offer excellent conditions throughout the season. Passo Tonale in particular, offers snow-sure conditions from late October to mid June - with lifts up to 3088m!

2. Plenty of snow!
In the western Alps, the resorts of Bardonecchia and Sestriere have enjoyed a favourable Mediterranean weather pattern – bringing some of the best snow in Europe over recent years, especially over the Christmas period. In many of the other Italian resorts, the efficient snow-making facilities ensure the pistes are kept in pristine condition for some great skiing – especially for beginners!

3. Great value packages
Italy tends to be one of the cheapest European destinations so there are always some great value offers to take advantage of. For PGL school ski groups, a 9 day trip by coach costs as little as £779 in February Half Term 2019.

4. Fantastic food!
Pizza, pasta, gelato – need we say more?! The Italian cuisine is always a hit with our school groups, as is the laid back, family-friendly atmosphere you’ll find in many restaurants throughout each ski resort.

5. Lots of school-friendly accommodation to choose from
The friendly hoteliers in Italy are known for their warm hospitality and there are many hotels and guesthouses that are well-equipped to cater for school groups. Some of our favourite hotels include Hotel La Roccia in Passo Tonale and Hotel Urri in Aprica - both offering single occupancy, Hotel Solaris in Milky Way and Hotel Martinella in Folgaria which offer some great doorstep skiing, Hotel Piandineve in Passo Tonale which offers some great in-house facilities and Hotel La Sponda in Foppolo which is an excellent budget-friendly choice!
